Ethics,
Education, Environment and economics: for
social, environmental and economic justice.
Merits
of capitalist activity vs. social responsibility
1. Environment:
Population: The number one issue of the Environment is human numbers.
Without
acknowledging this issue, consumption and degradation of resources, lost
species will increase and naturalness will decline. Educate, influence, remove tax benefits
for healthy children. Encourage religious groups to understand and do not allow
global corporations to constantly force growth for profit over responsibility.
Climate change: Accept the Paris climate summit agreement. Promote
taxation of fossil fuels, discourage low efficiency vehicles, don’t allow
loophole legislation: Such as Virginia
and taxing high fuel efficient vehicles or Salt Lake City and single person use
of the HOV lane with a purchased authorization, do every thing possible to
leave fossil fuels in the ground and promote the understanding of the ever
expanding human population and their cause and effect. Promote solar energy.
Energy: Taxation on fossil fuel carbon emission, increase the carbon
tax especially on diesel fuel and gasoline, encourage public transportation
improve rail passenger transport, discourage large square foot homes through
education. Promote Solar-power over all other forms of electricity. Promote
citizen use of solar over corporate and promote private electricity development
allowing it to enter the grid with only the transportation lines being
corporate. European countries are using solar that provides social, environmental
and economic justice.
Public lands: More public lands not less. Stop the trend in congress of
selling or transferring federal land to States. The common land for the public
is essential for a healthy life with open space to explore. Promote the possibility
of acquiring federal public lands in central and western Tennessee.
Water: Enforce the Clean Water Act to the fullest and demand that
point source and non-point source pollution be the responsibility of the
polluter. Tennessee and national waters need improvement and the Federal Water
Pollution Control Act should be Strengthened not relaxed and the purpose of the
EPA should be encouraged not deregulated.
2. Health Care: Do away with corporate health
insurance, it is not logical to hand over large sums of money to a third party
for their profits while at the same time excluding so many citizens from low or
no health services. Promote a single all citizens provider to be covered by a “Medicare like” program for all
citizens with social and economic justice responsibility and that the corporate
health provider is overseen to assure regulatory oversight to prevent high
profiteering. Medicare works well for seniors, why not expand it for every
citizen? Issues of mental health, dental health, vision health and “pre-existing
conditions” should be covered.
3. Ethics, Character and
Values: Regressive,
Isolationist and extreme Nationalistic values should be discouraged and the
public educated, this behavior interned Japanese Americans, caused Jim Crow
behavior, McCarthyism, alt-right and so many more regressive U.S. behaviors. Do
not follow party line just for political reasoning. It is the representative’s
responsibility to represent but more than that, to do so with knowledge and
logic and this explained to the constituents. Do the right thing not “can I get re-elected”.

Personal”.
Capitalism:
Acknowledge, that we are a society and that capitalism and corporations have
their place but there are necessities of social care that capitalism will not
promote nor should they, their paramount purpose is profit. Health care,
environment and economic justice should not be the “bottom line” (dollars) of
our nation nor should it be the executive or legislative objective. As a legislator have an independent mind
instead of party loyalty.
